Found this below book snapshot of writer Sujatha's words from his Tamil book: Karpanaiku Appal (Beyond Imagination). Go to translation:
Roughly translates to
"You can buy a box called 'Canon navigator' for 2500 US Dollars. The 'Navigator' is a small desktop computer. And with this a telephone, an answering machine, a facsimile, a printer and a 10" television screen - these are just the things you need to bring work to home.
This can save you a lot of things. The fuel needed for your everyday commute to work, importantly. Public transit will be less crowded. Cities can reduce traffic. Pollution can be curbed. In future, you don't have to go to work, work will come to your home.
But there's a catch. You have to stay with your wife 24x7."
Unbelievable foresight
How deeply must this man have believed in technology to have written this 30 years ago, which is now my reality on a laptop. It's beyond remarkable to see his vision come to life.
And his sense of humor shines in the last line, which is his master stroke of work. 😂
Work from home - is not something out of our imagination, it had rooted in some people's minds few decades ago.
