The Power of Reading

Time is precious, and how we transact time with what we do is very important.

In today's world, we are constantly bombarded with information from a variety of sources - from social media, to television, to conversations with others. In this never-ending stream of stimuli, it can be easy to get lost and find ourselves reacting to the world around us, rather than actively engaging with it. This is where the power of reading comes in.

For every minute of speaking, I lose a minute of listening. For every minute of watching, I lose a minute of thinking. But for every minute of reading, I earn back those minutes I lost speaking or watching. That's how powerful reading is.

When we read, we are engaging in a fundamentally different way than when we are speaking, watching, or listening. Reading requires us to slow down and focus our attention on the words on the page, allowing us to engage with the ideas and thoughts of the author in a more thoughtful and deliberate way. In this way, reading can be seen as a transaction - we exchange the time we spend reading for the opportunity to engage with new ideas and perspectives.

Reading is the closest thing to Meditation a common man can get to, practically.

This transaction is powerful because it allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the world around us. Through reading, we are able to expand our knowledge and gain new insights, which in turn can help us to make more informed decisions and lead more fulfilling lives. In this way, reading can be seen as a form of self-education, allowing us to continue learning and growing long after we have left the formal education system behind.

When you watch something, your mind just processes what you're watching and at times indulges in it. But to exercise your brain muscles to think, reading is key.

Moreover, reading has the potential to enrich our relationships with others. By reading books, we can gain a deeper understanding of the experiences and perspectives of others, which can help us to relate to them on a more empathetic and compassionate level. This can lead to more meaningful and fulfilling relationships, as we are better able to understand and connect with those around us.

When reading, your body is at rest, your eyes are focused, your mind at it's best state and your heart at it's right pace.

In short, the power of reading lies in its ability to help us engage with the world in a more thoughtful and deliberate way. By reading, we are able to expand our knowledge, gain new insights, and enrich our relationships with others. In this way, reading can be seen as a powerful transaction that allows us to exchange our time for the opportunity to grow and learn.
